Description
Painting outdoors or en plein air has a rich history that has inspired generations of painters who have been drawn to the challenge of simplifying the complexity of the world into a singular pictorial moment. Landscape painting presents the artist with a lot of visual information that can be overwhelming. In this course, we will learn how to simplify space and create stronger visual compositions. Working in oil paints in natural light and adapting to the unpredictable conditions of spring weather participants will develop skills in color mixing and color-value using a limited palette.
This course will take place at outdoor locations around Cincinnati. For the first class day we will meet at Manifest Drawing Center.
This class will cover the following topics:
• Value and color-value
• Understanding big masses to compose space
• Color mixing
• Subject matter as focus
• Working with a clothed model (subject to availability)
Tuition: $370
